CAREABOUTKIDS

PARENTS: Teach your children to wash their hands frequently. Also, tell them to turn away from other children that cough or sneeze in their presence. The same applies to them when they cough or sneeze in the presence of other children. Children who read well have parents who: .read aloud to them . talk to them about their ideas . take them places . let them watch T. V. but limit it. Your children model themself after you, and a major route for learning is your children's observation of how you learn and deal with your emotions and stress. MY WORD: Parents are the most important role model in a child's life.

PARENTS: A child sees the need for people to cooperate with one another in the interest of all. The reactions of other people are very important to a child's development. When parents accept and respond to their child's curiosity, it grows. When they do not, it may wither to the detriment of learning. MY WORD: learning is important to the child's thinking process as food is to the physical process. Both need to be encouraged and managed properly.

PARENTS: Sometimes parts of a puzzle, a toy house, or a build-it-yourself locomotive or truck do not come together in the way a child planned. When this happens, the child sifts and sorts and changes some of the parts to see if he can make the object work through a different arrangement. This type of creative thinking develops into more sophisticated problem solving for the child. Each time a child succeeds on his own terms, the child is satisified . The child begins to feel that the world is at his fingertips. MY WORD: Everyday a child learns something new and exciting.
